You may also need to make sure PP is allowed through the firewall and that your anti-virus (such as perhaps AVG according to some people) is not blocking it. It then all works but be patient as loading can take 1 min or 5. (If you wait as the program loads then freezes, you'll see each of these is the file Premiere Pro gets stuck on.) After doing this, use Task Manager to close PP and restart. The 2 files are called "ExporterQuicktime.prm" and "ImporterQuicktime.prm" and are plugins. Next up I have a 256 GB Samsung 850 PRO SSD. This is the fastest drive I have installed. I have my OS and all of my editing applications on a 256 GB Samsung NVMe M.2 drive. Ideally, you want to have the fastest drives possible for your operating systems, media cache and scratch disk.
I'm using a Windows workstation and so I'm able to have multiple internal hard drives. This kind of setup will also work for DaVinci Resolve.
